Blood bowl 2 bretonnian guide1/3/2023 ![]() ![]() Side-step then leads to some nice further options in diving tackle, followed by tackle (or the other way around), which will make them an incredible marking player, or frenzy, which will allow you to crowdsurf a few players of your own without fear of reprisal. Side-step also effectively widens the pitch for you, as you don't have to worry about being surfed into the crowd, which is really good for your running game. That potentially gives you four blodgers very early in development, which will be a real pain for any teams that haven't managed to get much tackle on their side yet.Īfter that, you couldn't go wrong putting side-step on each one as well, it's such an annoying skill for your opponent to deal with. My suggested development path is to put dodge on each one as a first skill, waiting to see if any of them get those sweet doubles or a stat-up before specialising them. That agility access means they can really be the stars they're meant to be, although you will still be hoping for the occasional double to get some strength skills on one or two. Prior to the change that gave blitzers access to agility skills on normal rolls, their big problem was that it was hard to know what to do with them after the first couple of levels. They also tend to be SPP hogs, as they will be the ones doing most of the scoring, but this isn't actually a huge problem since they'll be the ones you most want to level up anyway. They are expensive though, meaning it's tough to start a team with all four, and if you lose one to death or permanent injury it's going to hurt big time. From the get-go they are able to take down big targets, they have the crucial block skill, and they boast a solid running game, able to reliably make hand-off plays with only a 1 in 9 chance of failure. At MA7 they have good speed, and even though catch, dauntless, and block are a quite unusual combination of starting skills, it does make them incredibly versatile. The Bretonnian blitzer is touted as the star player of the team, and while this was a bit of stretch under their former rules, it now very much holds true. It's crazy! If you're a serious min-maxer and these quirks make your eyeball twitch, maybe give them a miss. Their blockers have strength access but all start with wrestle. Their blitzers, the guys you want to be, ya know, blitzing with, have no strength access. Many people are quick to point out the strange synergy of the Bretonnians' skill access. They're a bit like humans in that they can bash weaker teams and outpace stronger ones, and they require a little finesse to use effectively. Bretonnia has a strong running game, relying on screening, tactical marking, and hand-off plays to score. Lastly, the numbers are made up by dirty peasants, easily replaceable, there to take punches, and far too lowly to ever be trusted with the ball. Their blockers, or squires, provide humble but effective support. Their blitzers, the questing knights, are the star players of the team, hogging the ball, scoring touchdowns and making the big hits for the highlight reel. I hope that this one, with the blitzer change taken into account, will in turn help others thinking of picking up Bretonnia and giving them a shot.īretonnians are a weird but satisfyingly thematic team. I really feel like I'm standing on the shoulders of a giant in writing this, not least of all because I took some formatting ideas from his earlier Bretonnian article, but also because his article gave me plenty of help when running my own Bret team, even if it was slightly outdated. Almost all of the guides out there refer to the blitzers only having access to general and passing skills, a restriction that severely limited their usefulness, but now they are so much better! So I took it upon myself, despite the fact that I'm a fairly new player, to write up a new and up-to-date guide.īefore I start I'd like to thank ravenpoe121 for his wonderful “Let's Talk About.” series, which was the inspiration for this post. ![]() #Blood bowl 2 bretonnian guide update#But the Brets that first arrived with BB2 are quite different today thanks to one crucial update to the team: their blitzers gained agility access on normal skill-up rolls. To the best of my knowledge, Bretonnians started out as a fan-made team, getting their big break when introduced by Cyanide in their digital implementation of the tabletop game, Blood Bowl 2. Greetings, blood ballers! This here is a guide to one of the newer, and therefore less talked about teams in Blood Bowl, Bretonnia! As a player interested in starting a Bret team I found that there wasn't much out there in terms of strategy or build discussion for this team, and what little there was was outdated. ![]()
